Musicians Unite Against Childhood Cancer

September 1st was an amazing day of raising awareness in the fight against childhood cancer. As the kickoff to Childhood Cancer Awareness Month we launched our #Rock2AbolishCancer social media campaign. As part of the campaign we connected with numerous musicians and asked them to use their social media presence to ask their fans and followers to donate $1, as a sign of solidarity, to THEIR favorite childhood cancer charity.

The Results

Our social media campaign proved that people from around the world can connect around a common cause without major marketing expenses. (Our total expenses for #Rock2AbolishCancer were $200 for the press release) Platforms like Twitter also proved that if people are passionate enough for a cause, they will Tweet like crazy to help raise awareness.

Numerous cancer charities were tweeted about the entire day with our followers pledging support to their organizations. While we don’t, and probably never will, know the total amount that each childhood cancer charity received September 1st, we do know that many gained valuable financial support and lots of awareness through the tweets during the day.

We were overwhelmed by the number of passionate followers who reached out to their friends as well as to anybody who would help them retweet the message. We were also appreciative of the celebrities, musicians, and influential tweeters who helped us spread the word. (Special Shout Out to Melinda Bell with WegMusic and Wes Kidd from Red Light Mgt) We have included many of our influential tweeters below who assisted us with the campaign. The total number of followers, of just the individuals shown below, totaled over 5.5 million people. That doesn’t include the thousands of other individuals who tweeted throughout the day. Not too bad for one day on Twitter….
