@abolishcancer Fact Sheet

@AbolishCancer was established in November 2009 by @DarahBonham, with the premise of uniting a global community in the fight against cancer by raising not only funds for cancer charities and organizations but also AWARENESS.  Since 2009 we have raised over $50,000 for various cancer charities through social media campaigns….primarily on Twitter.  These “Twitterthons” as we call them, help raise awareness through the tweets that occur over a 24 hr period of time that help support the participating charity.

After running these campaigns for several months we became aware of the power of connecting people in the fight vs cancer.  We have been fortunate over this brief period of time to connect with some great cancer organizations as well as partnering with numerous celebrity and influential tweeters along the way.

This “social media inertia” has led us to expand our work to make even a greater difference in the fight.  Our premise has always been to support not just one cancer charity, but all those cancer organizations that are doing the good work in the fight THROUGH THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA.  While our Twitterthons will continue to run, we are launching our new campaigns that will unite businesses, cancer charities, and consumers through our newly created tech platform that promotes and shares the campaigns through social media.
